Boxkat Rodent Barriers LLC ("Box-Kat," "we," "us," or "our") operates www.box-kat.com (the "Site"). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you visit the Site, buy from us, contact us, leave a review, join our email list, or take part in our Referral Partner Program, and how we use, share, and protect it.

2. Information We Collect

Information you give us

(a) Order details: your name, billing and shipping address, email address, and phone number.

(b) Payment information: handled by our payment providers. We never see or store your full card number.

(d) Messages: anything you include when you email or call us.

(e) Reviews: your name, email address, review, rating, and any photos you submit through our review platform. Your name (as you enter it), review, and photos are shown publicly on the Site.

(f) Referral partner applications: your business name and type, contact name, email address, phone number, and the shipping address for partner materials. If you're approved, we also collect the PayPal account used for payouts and, where required, tax information such as an IRS Form W-9.

Information collected automatically

(g) Device and usage data: IP address, browser and device type, operating system, pages viewed, how you reached the Site, and time spent on it.

(h) Cookies and similar technologies, described in Section 5.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

(a) process, ship, and support your orders, including returns;

(b) communicate with you about orders, questions, and your account;

(d) display reviews;

(e) run our Referral Partner Program, including crediting partners for purchases they refer and paying commissions;

(f) understand how the Site is used and improve it and our products;

(g) show relevant ads on other platforms, such as Google and Meta; and

(h) prevent fraud and meet legal, tax, and accounting obligations.

4. How We Share Your Information

We share information only as needed to run our business:

(a) Service providers who work on our behalf, such as our store platform (Shopify), payment providers, shipping carriers, email marketing tools, our review platform, our referral program platform, and analytics providers.

(b) Advertising partners, such as Google and Meta, through cookies and pixels on the Site (see Section 5).

(c) Referral partners. If you buy using a partner's discount code or referral link, that partner can see that an order was placed through their code or link, along with its date and value, so they can be credited. We do not share your payment details with partners.

(d) Legal and business needs: to comply with the law, respond to lawful requests, protect our rights and customers, or as part of a sale or transfer of our business.

We do not sell your personal information for money. Some state laws treat our use of advertising cookies as "selling" or "sharing" personal information, or as "targeted advertising." Section 5 explains how to opt out.

5. Cookies and Your Choices

The Site uses cookies and similar technologies for:

(a) essential functions, such as your cart and checkout;

(b) analytics, such as Shopify Analytics and Google Analytics, to see how the Site is used;

(c) advertising, such as Meta Pixel and Google Ads, to show you Box-Kat ads on other sites and measure how they perform; and

(d) referral tracking. When you click a referral partner's link or scan their QR code, a cookie records the referral for up to 30 days so the partner can be credited if you buy.

You can opt out of advertising cookies through our cookie preferences or the "Your Privacy Choices" link in the Site footer, where shown. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings, though some Site features may stop working. Where cookie consent is required, you'll see a cookie banner on your first visit.

6. Payment Processing

Payments are processed by PCI-compliant payment providers, which may include Shopify Payments, PayPal, Shop Pay, and Google Pay. Boxkat Rodent Barriers LLC does not have access to or store your full payment card details.

7. Email Marketing

If you join our email list, we may send news, promotions, and product updates. You can unsubscribe at any time with the link in any marketing email or by emailing hello@box-kat.com. Even if you unsubscribe, we'll still send emails about orders you place.

8. Data Retention

We keep information only as long as we need it for the purposes above. Order, tax, and accounting records, including referral partner payout and tax records, are kept for as long as the law requires, which is typically several years. Marketing data is kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it.

9. Your Rights

Wherever you live, you can ask us to access, correct, or delete your personal information, or to stop sending you marketing emails, by emailing hello@box-kat.com. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request, and we'll respond within 45 days. We may keep information we're required to keep by law, such as order and tax records.

California and other U.S. states. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights. These can include knowing what we collect and share, and opting out of the sale or sharing of your information or of targeted advertising. To make a request, email hello@box-kat.com with the subject line "Privacy Request," or use the opt-out options in Section 5. We will not treat you differently for exercising these rights.

Canada. You may request access to and correction of your personal information. If you have concerns we haven't resolved, you may contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

European Economic Area and United Kingdom. If these laws apply to you, we process your information to perform our contract with you (your order), with your consent (marketing and non-essential cookies), for our legitimate interests (running and improving the Site), and to meet legal obligations. You may request access, correction, deletion, restriction, or portability of your information, object to processing, and complain to your local data protection authority.

10. International Data Transfers

We are based in the United States, and your information is processed there. Data protection laws there may differ from those where you live. We take reasonable steps to protect your information wherever it is processed.

11. Data Security

We rely on Shopify's secure hosting and encryption and on reasonable safeguards of our own to protect your information. No system is completely secure, so we can't guarantee absolute protection against unauthorized access.

12. Children's Privacy

The Site is intended for adults, and purchases require being at least 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have, we will delete it promptly.

13. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last Updated" date at the top shows when it last changed. If we make significant changes, we'll post a notice on the Site.
